I’ve stumbled across an interesting website talking about a few myths regarding blind people. I am not blind and I don’t know any blind people but this website is nonetheless interesting. I enjoy the writer’s frankness and attempt to get across the idea that blind people are just people. I wish this feeling could be cultivated in everyone.
The more people I meet, the more cultures I encounter, the better I understand that we are all just people. We each have our own hopes, dreams, and insecurities. The differences are only in how we express these things. Look inside another human and you’ll find we are not so different.
I also want to say that people with disabilities are not special or super-human. They get angry. They feel sad. They can be ignorant. They have love affairs. People with disabilities are just people. They are not all poster-children training for their next marathon to benefit the plight of all disabled people.
In my mind people with disabilities receive no detractions for being disabled and receive no added bonus for being disabled. I try not to judge someone until I’ve gotten to know them. It can be a hard thing to fight against one’s own prejudices but the effort is worth while.

It’s always good to test your programming skills and keep your mind sharp. A really great site I stumbled upon is
Project Euler. It has a few hundred programming problems with varying degrees of difficulty and problem types.
I started solving the problems with C/C++ and then started learning Ruby so I switched over to solving the problems with Ruby. From now on this website is going to be my main testing field whenever I learn a new language. It’s amazing how quickly I learned the ins and outs of Ruby by hacking away at the problems on this site.
Don’t waste any more time!
I have solved 59 out of 217. See how many you can get! Can you beat me!? I doubt it! ;)

About a year ago I created a 3d tank as part of a game. It was for a class and I ended up spending more time designing the tank than the game. This was my first attempt at building anything 3d and I think it turned out cool. I designed it against the United States military’s M1A2 Abrams tank. I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it looks close. :)
Originally the tank treads had a much lower triangle count but sometime ago I decided to try splicing every tread triangle into two or three smaller triangles… I can’t remember which… and I saved it that way. So currently the tank has a triangle count of 32,766 but I’d say 90% of that is the tank treads. Oh well.
I used
Wings 3d to design the tank. I highly recommend this software. The 3d mesh is in the Wavefront file format so if you use Wings 3d you’ll have to import the .obj file. If you’re interested in downloading the model I have created a link to directly download the model in a zip file.
As always feel free to use it and do whatever you want with it.
Click here to download the tank model in a zip file. It is 567 KB.
Here is the real tank:
Here are various shots of my tank:
